Ruth Roberts was appointed as the first Director for Scholarships Management at the South African Department of Higher Education and Training in 2016. She has worked for the Department for over 12 years, previously in international relations, focusing on a range of bilateral and multilateral engagements in education.

Ruth Roberts
She has a Master’s degree in International Studies and has degrees from the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Cape Town. Before joining the Department in 2008, she spent time working in the United States and Taiwan, as well as at the Centre for Chinese Studies at Stellenbosch University, the High Commission of Singapore and as a parliamentary monitor.
