Helin Bäckman Kartal works at the Division for Global Partnerships at Uppsala University, Sweden. She is the coordinator for South Africa – Sweden University Forum (SASUF), which is a transformative project uniting 38 universities from across Sweden and South Africa. Bringing together leading researchers, teachers, students, university leaders and other stakeholders, the project develops joint solutions to the challenges posed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2030.

I went on to Stirling High School where I passed my matric in 2010. In 2012 I enrolled at Nelson Mandela University for Bachelor of Arts degree where I majored in Political Science and Sociology.

Huba has over a decade of experience in internationalization of higher education and joined Nuffic Neso South Africa in June 2018. Before resuming her current position as Head of the South Africa/Southern Africa Office, she was Development and Partnership manager for the Orange Knowledge programme.

Dr Samia Chasi is a practitioner-scholar in higher education internationalisation with more than 20 years of experience in this field. She currently serves as Manager Strategic Initiatives, Partnership Development and Research at the International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA) and is a Research Fellow at the University of the Free State, South Africa.

Jan Crafford is an ecologist and environmental scientist with 25 years of experience in research and teaching at tertiary institutions, chiefly at the University of Venda.
Fiona Erispe
Fiona has worked in Higher Education since 2010 at UCT Graduate School of Business as Career Services Coordinator assisting international students who wanted to remain in South Africa with visa matters. She later joined the UCT International Office in 2019 and currently is the Visa and Immigration Liaison Coordinator.
Kyle Farmbry
Kyle Farmbry, J.D., Ph.D., began serving as the 10th President of Guilford College on Jan. 1, 2022. Previously, Kyle served as a professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University- Newark. From August 2013 to July 2019, he was Dean of the Graduate School at Rutgers University-Newark.
Sepo Hachigonta
Sepo Hachigonta is Director of Strategic Partnerships at the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. His research interest is in trans-disciplinary fields as well as Africa’s science, technology and innovation policy landscape. Prior to joining the NRF, he was a programme manager at FANRPAN, a regional policy analysis network on food security and agricultural based in Pretoria.
Anja Hallacker
Dr Anja Hallacker has been the director of the DAAD Information Centre Johannesburg and a lecturer in the German Department of the University of the Witwatersrand since November 2017. She has worked in higher education systems all her life and takes pleasure and pride in supporting students and researchers.
Cornelius Hagenmeier
Cornelius Hagenmeier is a higher education and legal professional who is rooted in the German and South African jurisdictions. Since 2017, he serves as Director of the Office for International Affaries at the University of the Free State and is the Coordinator of the iKudu project. Prior to this, he was based as the first Director of International Relations at the University of Venda.
Fazela Haniff
Fazela Haniff immigrated to Canada in 1974 from Guyana, lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for three years, then relocaated to South Africa from 1994 to 2012 and returned to Canada in 2012. Her heading up the Urban Alliance on Race relations in 1990 afforded Fazela the skills and insight to champion Diversity and Inclusion throughout her career when such issues were tabu.

Dr Savo Heleta is a researcher and educator with more than ten years’ experience in higher education, academic research, curriculum development, teaching, research supervision and internationalisation in South Africa. His research interests include decolonisation of knowledge; higher education internationalisation; conflict analysis and conflict transformation; and social justice advocacy and activism.

Ms Divinia Jithoo is a Specialist in International Education at the International Education and Partnerships Office at the Durban University of Technology. Ms Jithoo has worked in higher education Internationalisation since 2007 and has specialised in study abroad and exchange as well as international virtual engagement. Ms Jithoo is also a PH.D candidate at the University of Western Cape. Her research focus is leadership of cross-border research collaboration.
Farai Kapfudzaruwa
Dr Farai Kapfudzaruwa is a senior postdoctoral fellow in the Strategic International Partnerships office within the Centre for the Advancement of Scholarship (CAS) at the University of Pretoria (UP) where is he responsible for the implementation of the African Global University Project (AGUP) – UP`s transformative internationalization initiative.
Anisa Khan
Anisa Khan is Director for Academic Services within the Division for Internationalisation at the University of Johannesburg. She is responsible for partnership development, academic support for internationalization, the development of joint degrees and short learning programmes. She has worked in various roles across the school and post-school, higher education sector and in the NGO sector. She is an experienced programme manager, environmental educator, teacher trainer, communications and partnerships manager.

Dr Alice A. K. King is the Education Advisor and Outreach Specialist at the U.S. Consulate General Cape Town, South Africa. She is a researcher, author, motivational speaker, teacher by profession, ordained minister of the Gospel, and enjoys counselling and mentor.
Meekness Lunga-Ayidu
Meekness Lunga-Ayidu is the South Africa Science and Higher Education Programme Manager at the British Council. In her role, she manages multiple collaborative programmes and partnerships between the South Africa and the UK Higher Education sectors. Additionally, she supports the delivery of British Council’s Innovation for African Universities (IAU) programme delivered across four countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and the UK.

Tshepang Marumo
Tshepang Marumo is a member of staff in the Division for Internationalisation at the University of Johannesburg. He was instrumental in the establishment of the International Office for Technikon Witwatersrand (TWR) and contributed immensely in the merger discussions between Technikon Witwatersrand and the Rand Afrikaans University (RAU) that led to the formation of the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
Nontokozo Mashiya
Professor Nontokozo Mashiya is the Director in the Office of the Vice Chancellor at the University of Zululand. As the Director in the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mashiya is responsible for two critical entities, the Pastoral Care Unit (GBV Office) and International Linkages Office.
Andile Mthembu
Mr Mthembu, student at University of Zululand, serves as the SASUF Student Network Chair person. He manages and coordinate the work with students in Sweden and South Africa, and serves as the main contact person for student representatives at 40 different Swedish and South African universities.

Dr Beata Mtyingizana-Buhlungu has taken up the position of new Senior Director: International Education from 1 October 2019 at Nelson Mandela University. Dr Mtyingizana-Buhlungu comes with a wealth of strategic management experience of the internationalisation of higher education from the universities of Cape Town (as Director for International Academic Programmes) and Free State (as Director for International Affairs) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) (as Director of Global Partnerships).

Her research is critically orientated and challenges the discursive interactions between psychology, health, gender, racial inequalities and politics within the global South.
Itumeleng Masisi
Ms Itumeleng Masisi is a lecturer and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Africa. Her research interests include the experiences of motherhood, adverse childhood experiences and intergenerational trauma. Her interests also include aspects of education and teaching and learning. Ms Masisi is currently working on her thesis regarding adverse childhood experiences and motherhood.
Moncef Meddeb
Dr Moncef Meddeb is Attaché for Science and Technology at the French Embassy in Pretoria since September 2019. Working with academic partners and both government agencies, he is responsible for strengthening the ties between France and South Africa in scientific and academic cooperation.

Lindelwa is a COIL Coordinator for the International Education and Partnerships Office at the Durban University of Technology (DUT). She holds a Degree of Bachelor of Child and Youth Care. She has worked as a Child and Youth Care Worker with children, youth, families, and communities in KwaZulu Natal and Cape Town, South Africa.

Ms Carol Newman currently holds the position of International Education Officer at the Durban University of Technology from February 2016 to present. She has spent the past 25 years working in the Higher Education Sector in various positions ranging from administrative to managerial. She holds a Bachelors of Arts (Honours) Psychology.

Dr Bianca Rochelle Parry has been a lecturer at the Department of Psychology at the University of South Africa since 2016. Currently, she is conducting research as a Postdoctoral Fellow of the Chief Albert Luthuli Research Chair, for which she was awarded a research grant from the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Dr Samuels is the current Director of the International Education and Partnerships (IEP) Directorate at the Durban University of Technology (DUT). He was the Senate Representative on the University Council and the Council EXCO for 16 years.
Susan Sutton
Susan Buck Sutton brings 40 years as faculty member and administrator to her work on global learning and engagement in higher education. Recently retired as Senior Advisor for International Initiatives at Bryn Mawr College, Sutton is also Emerita Associate Vice President of International Affairs and Emerita Chancellor’s Professor of Anthropology at Indiana University. She is now a Fellow at the Institute of International Education and Senior Associate at the American Council on Education.

Orla Quinlan
Ms Orla Quinlan is the Director of Internationalisation at Rhodes University, South Africa and has worked in Higher Education in South Africa, since 2011. Ms Quinlan served as the President of the International Education Association of South Africa, IEASA (2019-2020), successfully leading the organization through a challenging period, in response to the COVD pandemic.
